Being an LSEN (Learners with Specialized Educational Needs) school is a unique challenge. Our Curriculum is specifically tailored to provide learners a dual opportunity to catch up on, or “bridge”, their educational barriers whilst also completing basic technical apprenticeships in carpentry, metalwork and plumbing.

Currently our year courses are structured as follows:

• Bridge

• Orientation 1

• Orientation 2

• Grade 8

• Grade 9

• Grade 10 (final Year)

Learners graduate from Vaalrivier with a Grade 10 certificate (special education). For those learners who excel academically the opportunity exists to continue their tertiary studies at GS College skill centre.
